Jackie French writes for kids, adults, and wombats. Some of the books have  been best sellers and won awards. Others were eaten by the wombats. She was the 2014-2015 Australian Children's Laureate and the 2015 Senior Australian of the Year.

Humans are story tellers. Stories are the way we tell our history, or what we did last weekend. Each time we imagine our future we create a story. Learning how to create a story well, and tell it well, matters, even if it is not the kind of story that will  be published. Training for running, or netball, or football, builds your muscles. Creating stories builds the muscles in your brain. And just like riding a bicycle, the more you do it, the easier and better it becomes- and fun. I get paid to daydream, to sit at my computer and write down stories. I can't wait to read your stories, too.
